New artificial ski slope in Liverpool shopping centre

A shopping centre in Merseyside is to become the first in the UK to intall a commercial ski slop. The artificial slope will be in The Strand shopping centre in Bootle and it is an attempt to attract late night shoppers.  The indoor attraction will measure 14m in length and stand 3.5m high, it’s a bit on the small side, though fun enough if you live close. Perhaps it’s the perfect opportunity to take someone that hasn’t tried skiing or snowboarding before. The slope will be open from the 26th November.  Shoppers will be able to have ski and snowboard lessons for less than £5, or hire an inflatable ring to sledge down the slope. The quirky idea is the brainchild of the Bootle Town Centre manager, Chris White. He said: “It was one of the things that I wanted to do when I started this job. “I was asked to bring in commercial retail ideas and so I wanted to deliver events that will change the way people look at what happens in Bootle.” Chris said that the idea was really a “leap into the unknown.”
